People of Color
Growing up, Jacqueline, aka Jacque, never saw images of nail polish colors reflected on her skin tone or skin tones of other girls and women she knew, which made her skip nail polish altogether. It wasn’t until her 3-year old daughter, Monroe, came back from visits with her GiGi (grandma) with her nails painted that Jacqueline had a newfound interest.
After extensive research to understand how to omit the harmful toxins from nail polish, in 2019, People of Color was born. The brand’s mission is to celebrate and represent the various shades of brown skin as the FIRST THOUGHT, not the afterthought. Colors are featured on all shades of brown skin so that others can see themselves in the polishes and know that the brand celebrates them and their beauty.
Jacque is a wife and mother of 3 children and 3 cats. She enjoys all things travel, real estate, entrepreneurship, and hanging out with family & friends. She has a Bachelor of Science in Hotel Administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Before launching People of Color®, she worked in the hospitality and property management industries for 12 years.
“There are so many shades of brown skin in my family, let alone, around the world. What if someone made a nail polish brand called People of Color that picked out colors to complement the various shades of brown skin?”
